Song Of The Day: 3/9/12 (#1. André 3000) (A Life in the Day of Benjamin André )

My number 1 favorite Rapper of all time is, Andre 3000!!! Well obviously!!! There is just no one who has ever been able touch his lyrical prowess and and extreme creativity. Grant it he hasn’t ever really rapped solo. The only times he has ever rapped without Big Boi, as the duo OutKast, is on a couple songs on “The Love Below”, which is technically his solo album. This was also still under the OutKast moniker and 95% of that album is him singing (not rapping), which don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy very much. Since 2006, after the release of “Idlewild”, which also featured him singing the majority of the time, Andre (3 Stacks) basically went into hiding, only emerging to be featured on other peoples tracks, here and there. This lack of solo raps made it very hard for me to find a song displaying his amazing lyrical skill. This feat was also made even more difficult paired with trying to also find a solo song with him just rapping, that also had a video for it. So I gave up on the hope of finding a solo video of his with him rapping and settled for the song “A Life in the Day of Benjamin Andre” from “The Love Below” for today’s song of the day, which is him just rapping for 5 minutes straight. No chorus. It’s SICK!!! And this is just the very tip of the iceberg on how awesome he is as a Rapper. Through his whole career with Outkast, from 1994’s “Southernplayalisticadillacmusik” to 1996’s “ATLiens” to 1998’s “Aquemini” to 2000’s “Stankonia” and beyond he has always spit the most perfect, creative, thought provoking, killer verses any Rapper could ever hope to spit. If you are not as familair with Andre 3000 or OutKast as you should be, I suggest (highly suggest) you get acquanted and FAST!!!

Song Of The Day: 3/6/12 (#4. Eminem) (The Way I Am)

Today’s song of the day is “The Way I Am” from my #4 favorite rapper of all time, Eminem. He is probably the best lyricist ever in the Rap game. He would probably be even higher on this list if he was more consistent. He had a couple albums, namely “Encore” and “Relapse” that just weren’t as good as some of his early stuff. They were actually quite annoying at times. With that being said, his lyrical prowess has never really slacked. The dip in quality was more about the subject matter, music and his delivery than his rapping. His most recent album “Recovery” was his best album since “The Eminem Show” and he also had a sick album, “Hell: The Sequel” with Royce da 5’9″ under the moniker Bad Meets Evil. He has returned to form, but he’s not always the most consistent of artists, although as I said his lyrical skills are always sharp and that’s what has taken him so far in the Rap game and earned him so much respect as “The White Rapper”, who is better than just about any other Rapper out there when it comes to lyrical prowess. This alone makes him #4 on my list.

Song Of The Day: 3/5/12 (#5. Jay-Z) (I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me))

Starting today and continuing through the next 4 days I will be sharing my top 5 favorite Rappers of all time. At #5 is Jay-Z, who I actually consider to be my unbiased pick for the #1 Rapper of all time. He really is the poster boy of Rap and has had such a consistent and illustrious career, all while staying true to himself and never really watering down his art. However in my biased list of top 5 rappers he is #5. He and the 4 other rappers to follow are all super talented lyricists, musicians, song writers and/or performers. All of them could very well give the others a run for their money. Today’s song of the day is Jay-Z’s party jam “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)”. Come back tomorrow to see who #4 is……
