Song Of The Day: 3/12/12 (Learn To Fly)

So the last couple days I shared “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette and “Long Day” by Matchbox Twenty for song of the day, both great 90’s Rock songs. I also have a couple other 90’s Rock songs I’ve been wanting to share, one of which is today’s awesome song of the day, Foo Fighter’s “Learn To Fly”, so I thought, hey, why not do a whole 90’s Rock week. I’ve always said (possibly bias-ly so, being born in 85) that the 90’s had the best music of any decade (across all genres). I mean, think about it, Rock, Rap, Pop, R&B, etc., were all at peaks and so were music sales. I recently spoke with my boss (a big music aficionado) who is in his 40’s and even he agreed that the 90’s probably had the best, most consistent music across all genres, of any decade, with the 60’s being a very close second. The only problem with the 60’s is that it was basically just Rock and Soul. By the time the 90’s rolled around, music had evolved so much and branched out in to so many different sounds. That diversity paired with the quality of 90’s music is what makes it so special. I hope you agree with me and continue to enjoy the flash from the not SO distant Rock past, this whole week.

Song Of The Day: 3/10/12 (Ironic)

Every once in a while, for whatever reason, old songs/artists that you haven’t heard from in a long time, reemerge out of the blue and all of a sudden you start hearing them and seeing them wherever you go. I’ve been hearing Alanis Morissette songs on the radio a lot lately and oddly enough soon after that she became a guest vocal coach on the hit singing TV show, The Voice. Isn’t that ironic? Don’t you think? In particular, I’ve been hearing her song “Ironic” from her Grammy for Album of the Year winning album, “Jagged Little Pill”. Which I also ironically enough listened to in the last month (before I started hearing her on the radio again and before she ever popped up on The Voice) because I was building up to last months Grammy Awards by listened to every Grammy winning album for Album of the Year, save a few that I couldn’t get via Spotify and/or didn’t own myself. A little toooooo ironic. Yeah, I really do think. So today’s song of the day is, what do you know, Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic”.
