Song Of The Day: 2/20/12 (Run To You)

As I said yesterday I originally didn’t want to post a Whitney Houston video, as to not be another outlet adding to the barrage of Whitney coverage and music, but I think that she was a great talent and deserves to be showcased on Volume 11. So today’s song of the day is her song “Run To You” from her hit film and Grammy winning album “The Bodyguard”. The album won Album of the Year in 1994. This is a beautiful song with a video consisting almost exclusively of a beautiful close up of her and a pretty fitting scene, now that she has passed away, of her running in the clouds. R.I.P. Whitney.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston

It has just been announced that Whitney Houston has passed away at the age of 48. There is no news on the cause of her death, yet. She was considered by many (including myself) to be one of the greatest female voices of all time. Her first album was released in 1985 and in her 27 year career she has accumulated  somewhere around 415 awards, making her the most awarded female artist of all time. Her album/soundtrack for the movie “The Bodyguard” won Grammy for Album of the Year in 1994. She’s also the 15th all time, best selling artist in the world. Some of her most memorable hits include “Greatest Love of All”, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, “I Will Always Love You” and many more. We will always love YOU, Whitney. Rest in peace.
