Hi all! I know it’s been very long since I last posted. I got busy and then kind of forgot about this great blog. 😦 It’s time to turn it back up to Volume 11! 🙂
I was reading through some old posts today and realized how much fun I had writing for Volume 11 and sharing my love of music with everyone and getting in to discussions with my readers. We’ll it’s official, I’m back! Back again! We even have a new look! Stay tuned for some new stuff! In the meantime, enjoy some Eminem! Guess who’s back…back again? Danny’s back! Tell some friends!
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
I know I haven’t posted on Volume 11 in many months. It has been a very busy time in my life. I got married for one and god knows that takes up a lot of time the planning and whatnot. Starting in 2013 I will pick up where I left off with some slight changes. In the meantime check out some of the stats of Volume 11’s first year. Thanks for reading and I will be bringing you more in 2013!!! Long live the music!!!
Here’s an excerpt:
The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,700 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 7 trips to carry that many people.
So unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the new big thing, “The Hunger Games”. I read all of the books last summer. More like devoured them. They were just so great and addictive!!! The first movie adaptation in the trilogy, “The Hunger Games” came out yesterday and it’s setting all kinds of records. It has the #7 highest grossing midnight showing of all time and the #1 highest grossing midnight showing of all time for a movie that’s not a sequel. All the other top 10 are sequels and the next non-sequel is #18 overall. Grant it, Hunger Games will have sequels and I’m sure they will do even better, now that the cat’s out of the bag on how awesome the story is. I liked the 2nd book, “Catching Fire” even better. It was my favorite of all 3 actually. That will be out, Fall 2013. I haven’t seen “The Hunger Games” yet, but I will tonight. Can’t wait!!! On top of those records, it holds the 5th highest grossing opening day ever and #1 highest grossing opening day ever for a non-sequal. Wow!! I knew it was going to be big, but this is huge!!! All 3 of the books as well as the box set of all 3 books together hold the top 4 spots on the current Amazon top selling books list. With all of this Hunger Games fever going around, I thought it fitting for today’s song of the day to be the the song “Safe & Sound” by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars from the film’s surprisingly, really good soundtrack “The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond”. The soundtrack is made up of songs by of course Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars, but also Kid Cudi, Maroon 5, Neko Case, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, Miranda Lambert and many others. It’s a very folky album, mostly quite, soothing and haunting tunes, that give me hope for the quality of the film itself. It’s a very grounded album and not quite what I expected from a big blockbuster movie, but very refreshing and bodes well for the film itself, showing that they are willing to take risks and not just shoved mainstream drivel down our throats. Enjoy the song of the day and go and see The Hunger Games, ASAP!!! What are you waiting for!?! Volume 11 will be here when you get back……
